TANGEDCO undertakes to facilitate establishment of solar power plants to an extent of 1000 MW in the first phase

Instead of allowing the industry to source its power from solar power plants via Captive and Third part sale which would be the right way to go about it, TANGEDCO is undertaking to facilitate establishment of solar power plants of 1MW and above capacity to an extent of 1000 MW in the first phase. TANGEDCO proposes to procure the power so generated by the solar power plants through the competitive bidding process and will enter into long term power purchase Agreement.

In this connection, it has been proposed to conduct a meeting with prospective investors interested in setting up solar power plants in the state at 4.30P.M. on 23.11.2012 at TANGEDCO Head Quarters, 144 Anna Salai, Chennai-2.

This is fraught with issues as payments from TANGEDCO have never been smooth especially for wind.
